About Me
I am co-founder and style director of Stylebakery.com. I write a daily column titled, Ask Alison and answer a variety of style questions from shoes to wedding wear to what to pack for vacation. I work as a style reporter and contribute to many national and local television shoes including Today show, The View, Tyra, Movie & a Makeover among many others. I also work as a spokesperson for various clients and am hired for public speaking engagements several times a year.
I have severe wanderlust and after many years of producing and styling photo shoots all over the world I now travel for TV and pure pleasure. I adore Italy and France for the architecture, wine and food, but seek warm sunshine and clear blue water in the winter. I make yearly trips to Costa Rica to surf and always enjoy a chance to wear flip flops and sandals. I split my time between New York (love the energy) and Los Angeles (love the weather). I combine a good mix of independent low maintenance girly girl and adventurous tomboy.
Occupation

Favorite Shows & Movies
CSI (the original), Project Runway, The Office, Law & Order SVU, Lost, Heroes, The Daily Show with Jon StewartI'm a fan of all the Oscar nominees this year. The music in "There Will be Blood" was incredibly powerful. Hoping the Coen Brothers get the Oscar for Directing. Tilda Swinton rocked as the conniving executive in "Michael Clayton" and "Juno" was truly the most clever humor for a teen pregnancy flick. I'm always up for indie films and strive to keep up with the better foreign movies. "The Lives of Others" was one of my favorites this year and loved the music of "Once."
Favorite Books
Everything by David Sedaris and his equally sassy sister, Amy Sedaris. Middlesex and others by Jeffrey Eugenides and the simple messages from Paolo Coehlo in The Alchemist and his other books. Big fan of Pablo Neruda and e.e. cummings, fascinating stories from Jon Krakauer, intensity of House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus 111 and many books of India like A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry, Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri and A River Sutra by Gita Mehta. Other good reads: The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, Snowflower and The Secret Fan by Lisa See, A Thousand Splendid Duns by Khalid Hasseini and The Gathering by Anne Enright plus The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Next on my list is Soul Mountain by Gao Xingjian.
Interests
I'm always up for a raucous game night with friends-a bit competitive-so bring it! Dinner parties, films, sports, etc. In New York I bike along the Hudson, play tennis and golf while in Los Angeles I'm trudging through the list of best hikes.
